“Relaxation is not a luxury, but a necessity for a healthy mind, body, and soul.”
Susan Taylor, “In the Spirit: The Inspirational Writings of Susan L. Taylor” (2001)
What a concept.
Funny how relaxation comes more easily as you age. Sometimes anyways. As a younger me I don’t remember sitting and relaxing. Always was something to do. There was never any time to sit and relax. Now I take the time. One of the joys of retirement.
A few days ago it was sunny. A rare occurrence this winter. So I went down to the dock and sat and read. I was sitting on the dock of the bay. I know. I know. Pure cheese!
Did nothing. And enjoyed every minute. Watching the boats and birds.
This fellow flew right by me before landing on the boat. I’d never had a heron fly so close to me before.

As I sat and read, it flew around and sweetly sat quite close to me.

Then took a little walk about.
All that exercise must have wet it’s appetite as it hopped down. Hmmm. Do herons hop? Went for a little snack.
Now that’s what I call a relaxing afternoon.
Just me, a book, a tea, and a heron.
