WALK AND DISCOVER

“All walking is discovery. On foot we take the time to see things whole.”

Hal Borland

Yesterday was lovely. Sunny and warm with a slight breeze.

A great day for a walk.

Off to Orange Beach Waterfront Park.

Nice to see flowers.

The Waterfront Park complex features a pier, a playground, BBQ and picnic areas.

First we took a walk to the pier. Actually that was second. First was the bathroom. Oh the life of seniors.

Waterfront Park Pier

The pier is a wonderful place for a stroll, fishing, or even posing. I’m glad a picture wasn’t taken of me trying to get up into that chair. Wasn’t pretty.

Along the pier you will find stations for fish cleaning.

Orange Beach Coastal Arts Center.

It’s a 10,000 square foot art gallery that features paintings, photography and sculptures from local artists.  Some, I read, are for purchase.

Outside the Arts Center are several studios.

The Clay Studio

The Clay Studio is the next building over and is an indoor studio where you can usually watch artists making pottery.  Classes are also available if you would like to get your hands dirty.

The Hot Shop

The hot shop is next.  At the hot shop you can usually watch works of art being made in front of your eyes, purchase beautiful glassware and decorative pieces, or sign up for a class and learn how to make our own masterpiece.

Unfortunately all of these were closed in preparation of the Festival of the Arts taking place this Saturday and Sunday.

There are art works throughout the property. This really caught my eye.

Spotted this little building. What is it?

The Tiny Gallery Blessings Box.

Nope. Not a food box. An art supplies box.

Talked with this lady and she told us that artists put extra art supplies in it for people who might need them. What an innovative idea.

I had her permission to take her picture.

The Playground

This statue is just outside the playground.

Let the children play, right?

Waterfront park has a great playground with climbing fort, swings and toddler area.

Other things we saw.

Yesterday’s temperature.
