Yesterday was a quiet day. Relaxing on the deck while the sun was out. What an unexpected bonus. The weather forecast said it was to rain all day but it only did for a short time.

Then out with friends

Dinner was at a place where we hadn’t previously been. Always fun to try a new spot. GTs on the Bay in Orange Beach. https://gtsonthebay.com/ About a 25 minute drive but took us longer. Oops. We kept missing the turn. But honestly it was very tricky. I mean it really was when you didn’t know what you were doing. Its weird. You drive past your exit road and then do a legal U Turn to approach it from the other direction. Took us a few tries.

What a great place. Very big inside. We arrived in time for Happy Hour but by the time she served our drinks it was one minute past so she charged us full price. A little annoying.

As an appetizer we had GTs Dip. It was tortilla chips served with a dip consisting of cheese, poblano (a mild chili pepper originating in the state of Puebla, Mexico), corn, and bacon. It was very good.

Our friends had been before and obviously like what they ordered (Chicken Carbonara, and Shrimp ‘n Grits) as they said that’s what they often have. His grits were interesting as they were fried Parmesan grit cakes. I’d never seen them before. And Caroline is so good. Puts me to shame. She eats half and takes the other half home. Smart and sensible. My salmon was delicious. It was fresh Atlantic salmon chargrilled and brushed with sweet bourbon glaze. I usually order blackened salmon but this was yummy. Richard said his club was ok.

As it was Thursday night there was an aging southern R&B band that played mostly 1960’s music. Aging? Perfect for us. Loved it. Wonderful when you can sing along as you remember the lyrics. I tell you as soon as the band started the dance floor was never empty particularly on the slow numbers. I had so much fun watching the dancers. So easy to recognize they had been dancing together forever. Smooth. I had to live vicariously through them as Richard doesn’t dance.

As we were leaving we noticed these on their wall. Very creative. Something to think about making this spring. Look closely to see how they’re made.

A little stop at the cute condo they’re renting and then home. Fun evening. Great to get out with others.
