And We’re Off

What an early start. On the road at 4:00 am. A long day of driving, all done by Richard. 14 hours. I offered to take a turn but he said he felt fine and wanted to keep driving. Most of it good driving too. Not heavy traffic but more than Richard was expecting. Some rain but no downpours. Not complaining.

We did restroom stops where we also ate food we had brought with us. That saves so much time. Didn’t stop to eat until we reached our night time destination – Salem, Virginia.

Here’s some info about it. I can’t tell you anything because we really didn’t take time to see anything.

Supper was at Salem Omelet Shoppe. Both of us enjoyed ours.

We took a quick drive to Starbucks so I could get a latte and to Walgreens for some water. Then to our hotel Quality Inn Salem.

The highlight of the day occurred early this morning. Around 4:30 am we saw four groups of deer 🦌, each group with 4-7 deer, right along the side of the road. There were no barriers between us. We’ve never seen them so close to the roadside. We could have almost reached out and touched them. They were just peacefully grazing on the grass and quietly watching us drive by. Beautiful to see.

So glad to be in for the night. Off to bed 🛌. Tired.

Nite y’all
